All the work has been created over the last 3 years and "documents" one specific aspect

of my travels over that time. These objects are the visual recordings of everyday interactions

I experienced while traveling, filtered through a persistent nostalgia for time passed. It is on

rare occasions I am able to put aside thoughts of the past when faced with even the newest

of experiences.

When traveling I often wear a hidden microphone and record select conversations I am part

of or simply overhear. Back in my studio these conversations and snippets of dialogue are

distilled into one or two word catch phrases that best sum up that particular experience. For

this series I chose words that were forced upon me as ephithets, in name calling, or used

simply as a friendly nickname. The materials the objects are constructed of are a continuation

of materials I used before starting to call myself an artist. I had many furry pets growing up

and would often build my own cages for them out of wood and hardware-cloth. I also custo-

mized my share of cars and was quite fond of reupholstering the insides of my vehicles, (one

van in particular) in fur.

These objects are the shotgun marriage of my romanticized past and the sometimes harsh

everyday environment I find myself in today.
